The praise team has literally gone from a transparency machine and cd player to a full fledged band. I am so humbled to think about the journey we have been on. I never felt adequate to be a praise and worship leader. I think we always focus on our short comings, but God sees them as oppertunities for His strength. God has never failed us and with every struggle He has shown himself strong. He has continually used us and provided. I grew up in a very traditional church, with piano and organ as our main instruments in musical worship, so I felt very out of my league when people began suggesting a praise team with live music.
I remember praying and asking God to show me what to do, because I had no idea how to start. That prayer has been answered over and over again through the years. God has brought talented, spirit-filled people to come along side and help us become who God wanted us to be. I tell the praise team that we are like an amoeba, constantly changing shape and form. It was beautiful to watch as God would bring people in to fill spaces on the praise team, at just the right moment. When I think about all the talented people we have worked with over the years, I am truly humbled to be a part of this ministry. It is the people who have served, sacrificed, and dedicated their lives to God's work, who have made Living Hope who we are today. The praise team is only one part of that body. Without each one of those people, Living Hope would be different in some way. I am so thankful and grateful for each one of them.
God put a dream in Pastor Lynn and Pam's heart 16 years ago and here we are 16 years later, living that out. It has been a struggle at times and challenges face us at every turn, but nothing worth doing is easy. God has called us and here we are, trusting Him through it all. Being a part of this church has been a tremendous blessing and being the leader of the praise team has been the dream in my heart. I have always felt like it's not the praise teams place to perform or just play music, but it is our call to use our gifts and talents to be lead worshippers. We aren't set a part to worship for the church, but to worship with the church, joining in on the worship in each heart that comes into God's presence. We are to create an atmosphere that makes it easy to praise and that leads the way to the throne room of heaven. We are to be the accompinament to the song of the church and the back ground music to the work God is doing. It's such a small part of what God is doing, but it is so important. We are called to "make a joyful noise" to God and to enter His courts with thanksgiving and praise. It is my prayer and hearts desire that we can honor God through the music every single service that we participate in. It's my desire to get out the way and let God do His work in every heart that steps inside the doors of Living Hope Church. It is so good to look back and see where God has brought us and to celebrate His work, but it is also time to look forward to the future God has called us to. I am so excited to see where God will lead us in the next 16 years. God took a small group of people who called on Him to guide us 16 years ago and He is still leading us where He wants us to go. It's been an amazing journey and this is only the beginning of the great things God wants to do. Happy Birthday Living Hope Church, may the upcoming years be blessed and beautiful as we follow God together.
